Spa Garden in Daruvar – Methods of Renewal and Reconstruction5-16en [2.33 MB - PDF]EPA-02446-00004-0010

Abstract: Spa garden in Daruvar ‘Julius’s Park’ is the oldest spa garden in continental Croatia. The counts Jankovich and their successors created the garden during the 18th and 20th century. The garden resumed its nowadays form and surface in the time of count Julius Jankovich in the mid-19th century and it was named after him. The garden is protected as a cultural heritage. The garden’s renovation is seen as an urban, architectural and landscape unity and it attempts to affirm the missing and neglected parts of the garden, to provide technological and municipal space modernization and to make a pleasant urban garden ambiance with new facilities and high space arrangement qualities, contributing to the economic development of the local community.

Investment Costs of the Building Envelope Reconstructions17-26en [160.95 kB - PDF]EPA-02446-00004-0020

Abstract: The article is aimed at the design of the measurements improving the thermal-technical properties of the building envelope from the point of view of the economic evaluation. The starting point for the evaluation of economic aspects is the quantification of the partial and total costs according to the individual constructions of the building envelope in relation to the earlier requirements. The result is the determination of the minimal thickness of the thermal insulation i.e. the determination of the corresponding properties of the building envelope. Described procedure represents the first step for the consecutive modelling of the potential investment options while comply with the optimal level according to Directive 2010/31/ES (EPBD II).

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the velocity field generated by water droplets with relatively large diameter that has great effect on the movement of several orders of magnitude smaller particles. A CFD model, Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) version 5.5.3 was used for the numerical simulation. The data obtained from the numerical studies are analysed.

Abstract: Present paper introduces a new interpretation of concrete, demonstrating some extreme possibilities of this rigid material such as a design element. In the first part a brief overview of the previous achievements are shown. The second part of this paper focuses on the relationship between concrete and fashion. The „typCon” studio was founded in the Institute of Construction Management of the Szent István University, Ybl Miklós Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The new developments, researches and formulas related to concrete design elements are also introduced.

Keywords: lightweight concrete, expanded glass granulate, fibre reinforcement, self-compacting concrete, concrete jewel

Abstract: Floods that have in recent years become a constant in developed areas are raising the issue of how to adapt to nature when constructing housing. The construction of retarding basins and high dikes are the most frequently used alternatives of protecting the urban environment. Such a practice is most commonly found in Europe where it however, has unfortunately shown itself on several times, not to be the most effective. People from North America who live in areas often affected by floods, build their housing on columns. In Slovenia, not much thought is given to this, which is probably the result of the traditional mentality that promotes the building of massive residential houses and the issue of structural engineering that involves the so-called soft ground floor. New materials and new structural principles make construction on columns possible, which has been proven by the example of the residential building on low bearing soil in the seismic and flood risk area of the Ljubljana Marshes.

Abstract: In this article the primary segment of an antiprismatic pop-up mast is analyzed, that can be applied for largely flexible architectural designs, like deployable bridges or transportable look-out towers. This deployable column, consisting of rigid plates, rigid and elastic bars, is characterized by its selfdeploying behavior due to the energy accumulated from lengthening the elastic bars during packing. The main goal of this paper is to prepare the analysis of the complex structure by a herein detailed investigation of the behavior of one, basic element of the deployable mast. After the analytical examination of the general behavior of the basic segment a geometrically nonlinear finite element formulation is used to trace the force-displacement diagram. Besides the parametric study, approximations of main mechanical parameters are herein given for facilitating preliminary design of such deployable structures.
